The Christian Science Publishing Society is very pleased to present this complete collection of beautiful accompaniments for the hardcover Christian Science Hymnal, Hymns 1-429.
The primary purpose of this 18-CD recording is to accompany congregational singing in church services and Sunday Schools. But it can also be used for singing hymns at home, for learning and memorizing hymns, and simply for listening.
Most of the hymns are played on a grant piano by professional musician, Peter B. Allen, but there are about 60 hymns played with additional instruments-string quartet, flute, oboe, and clarinet. A few of the hymns are played on the synthesizer, or have some synthesizer sounds in addition to the piano. About 50 of the hymns (noted in the listing) have been transposed into lower keys to make them easier to sing.
Each hymn is performed just as you would hear it in a Christian Science church service. First the hymn is introduced by playing it through one time, then all the verses of the hymn are played, and finally there is a short coda, which finished the hymn.
