Anna B. White Baker - Little is known about what led Anna B. White Baker and her husband, Dr. Alfred E. Baker, to take Primary class instruction with Flavia Knapp in 1896. Anna had been raised a Quaker, and Alfred was a homeopathic physician at the time of their marriage, but both left behind these modes of thought, devoting themselves to the study and practice of Christian Science. Both were members of Mary Baker Eddy's last class in 1898, and soon after, both answered her call to serve. In 1899 Eddy asked Alfred to go into the healing practice in Concord, New Hampshire, so the couple moved there. By 1900, both of the Bakers were listed in The Christian Science Journal as practitioners in Concord. Anna also served in Eddy's household off and on until 1902.
Anna Baker's reminiscence begins with this author's note: "The material in this book is authentic. It has been compiled from a journal kept during long residence in Mrs. Eddy's home, from notes verified by her, or from references taken verbatim."

Jennie Sawyer - Born in Wisconsin, Eunice J. Passage married Silas J. Sawyer in 1867. For the first fifteen years of the couple's married life, Jennie suffered from illnesses so severe that she became an almost helpless invalid. Then in 1883, her husband learned of Christian Science and purchased Science and Health. The Sawyers met Mary Baker Eddy in December of that year and, within days of that meeting, took Primary class instruction from her. Soon afterward, Sawyer was completely healed, and two months later both she and her husband were listed in The Christian Science Journal as practitioners in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Sawyer took another Primary class from Eddy in 1884 and a Normal class from her in 1886. Along with her healing work, Sawyer was a active in establishing Christian Science in Milwaukee. She began teaching Christian Science in 1905 or 1906.
