Simon Peter was eager to know more about God and quickly left his boat to respond to Jesus call, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." (Matthew 4:19) This story traces Peter's steps from the day he accepted Jesus' invitation to follow him, through his travels with the Master, to his own healing and teaching ministry.

Children will read about Peter's early recognition of Jesus as the Christ, or Messiah. They will learn how, in his later career, he healed a man crippled from birth, restored a woman to life, and was himself freed from prison - all solely through prayer.

The children will observe that much was required of Peter - just as much is required of them today. They, like Peter, will see that a deeper understanding of the teachings of the Master will quiet their fears, temper their impetuosity, and enable them to help others.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Funder of Christian Science, offers this advice, "Parents should teach their children at the earliest possible period the truths of health and holiness." (Science and Health page 236). And the basis of this teaching is found in the Holy Bible.
