by Thomas Linton Leishman

This volume in The Continuity of the Bible series, by Thomas Linton Leishman, is concerned primarily with Christ Jesus' lifework and ministry as it unfolds in the New Testament Gospels.

The three previous volumes dealt with the Patriarchs and the religious foundation they laid, the Hebrews in the Promised Land, and the prophetic writers of the Old Testament.

As Moses was the predominant character in the Old Testament with its promise of redemption and Messianic hope, so Christ Jesus, the founder of Christianity, dominates the New Testament with its message of salvation for all.

For nearly two thousand years this message had been influencing humanity - stirring the heart and lifting mankind out of disease and sin. The fulfillment of prophecy unfolds as the volume traces the career of Christ Jesus and the part played by those around him.

Mr. Leishman - Bible scholar, historian and teacher - is preeminently qualified to be the author of a work on the Scriptures. Following his long paternal ancestry of Scottish Presbyterian ministers, Mr. Leishman himself prepared for the ministry at Edinburgh University where he was awarded the degrees of M.A., and B.D. From further studies at Union Theological Seminary in New York City he earned his S.T.M. (Master of Sacred Theology). After resigning from the Seminary, he devoted himself to writing and lecturing on Biblical subjects. Mr. Leishman continues the study of Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek and also of Biblical archaeology to further his understanding of the basic sources of the Bible. The author is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature and the American Academy of Religion.
